2015 SIGNING DAY ROSTERCHADRON – The Chadron State College football team received 48 signed National Letters of Intent Wednesday and Thursday according to head coach
Jay Long.
Â
Long, who has guided the Eagles to a 25-9 record in just three seasons, is pleased with the incoming class.
Â
"I think we brought in a great class," he said. "The national champion came out of our conference last year and our goal was to identify and find recruits who can take Chadron State back to the top of the conference. I feel like we've done that with this recruiting class. The rest of the coaches and I can't wait to get this season started."
Â
The 48 commits hail from 14 states. Seventeen of the 43 signees are listed as linemen who will add depth on either offense or defense. Eleven others are tabbed for offense and the remaining 20 are defensive players.
Â
"Our coaching staff did a terrific job of finding great student-athletes who fit what we were looking for," Long said. "Our main emphasis was finding linemen, both offensive and defensive, and I think we did a great job filling those needs. We also found young men whom we believe will develop into outstanding skill position players.
Â
"Our goal is to always sign the best players in the area and we have done that. Coach (Craig) Jersild did an outstanding job of putting our coaches on the right guys and it was a team effort that involved the community and the college to help these young men become Eagles."
