Biography
2014: The defending RMAC champion in the 110-meter high hurdles…Will be seeking his fifth All-American honors in that event.
2013: Did not compete during the indoor season so he could have both indoor and outdoor seasons in 2014…Had another exceptional outdoor season, winning the 110-meter high hurdles at the RMAC Meet in 14.00 seconds and placing fourth at the NCAA DII National Meet in 13.97 seconds after running the preliminaries in 13.88 seconds to break his own school record…It was his third All-American honor….Also had a triple jump best of 47-7 ¾ at Azusa Pacific and was fifth at the RMAC Meet at 45-10 ½.
2012: Competed only during the indoor season…Was second in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.43 seconds at the RMAC Meet and placed seventh at the National Meet in 8.01…Also was third in the conference meet in the triple jump at 47-7 ¾.
2011: Set the school records in both the 60-meter highs (7.94) and 110 highs (14.17) at the National Meets, when he placed third indoors and fifth outdoors…He won the race at the RMAC Indoor Meet, but hit a hurdle at the outdoor meet and did not place…He also ran on the winning 4x100 relay at the RMAC Outdoor Meet for the second year in a row.
2010: Placed fifth in the 60 high hurdles at the RMAC Indoor Meet in 8.55 seconds after running the race in 8.40 earlier…Won the 110 highs at the conference’s outdoor meet in 14.73 after running the preliminaries in 14.21, a school record…Qualified for the National Outdoor Meet, but because of bad weather no preliminaries were run and everything was determined by times in three heats…He was among the leaders in the third heat when the runner next to him hit a hurdle that went into McFarlane’s lane, slowing him down and he finished 10th overall.
Personal: Everybody at Chadron State knows Karl…That’s partly because of his flamboyant hair styles that can be various colors…But he also has a big smile and is an excellent pianist and singer…Attended Cornwall College, the equivalent of a high school in his homeland…Son of Cynthia Virgo…Born Feb. 1, 1990…A psychology major with a 3.14 GPA.
