Biography

2016-- Because she missed the 2013 outdoor season, she has been awarded a medical redshirt to compete both indoors and outdoors, giving the Eagles a huge boost if she remains healthy.
2015 indoors—Broke the CSC pentathlon record set by Caryn Martin (Ziettlow) in 1993 by scoring 3,759 points at the Birds and Bees Meet in Gillette, Wyo.  Did not compete in it again until she was 10th among the 15 entries at the NCAA II National Indoor Meet in Birmingham, Ala., where she scored 3,751 points. Her season bests were: 60 hurdles—8:78, 400—56.83, shotput—38-4 ¼,   long jump—18-2 ½, high jump—5-4 ¼, 800—2:19.14. Both the 60 hurdle and 400 times are CSC’s second best all-time. She also ran on the 4x400 relay team that ran 3:51.90 to break the school record by 6.60 seconds.
2015 outdoors—Shelby didn’t break Caryn Martin’s CSC heptathlon record, but she scored 4,998 points, CSC’s second best all-time, to easily qualify for the National Outdoor Meet.  She finished 13th in the final placings at nationals with 4, 893 points despite having knee problems that hampered her in the track events and the jumps.  Earlier, she set the Eagles’ 400 hurdles record of 1:01.95 and ran on 4x400 relay team that improved the school record to 3:49.59.  Her other season bests were: 200—25.46, 800—2:17.46, 100 hurdles—14.38, shot put—37-5 ½, javelin—114-2, and long jump—16-10 ¾.  Both her and her brother, Jazz Bozner, a senior in 2015, were named the Eagles’ “workhorses” and she shared the women’s most valuable award with Stachia Reuwsaat.
2014—Initially tied the school record of 9.06 in the 60-meter hurdles, then lowered it to 9.04 and finally to 8.95 seconds at the Adams State Qualifier Meet. At the Birds and Bees Meet in January she scored 3,577 points in the pentathlon to qualify for nationals. Because of a leg injury she missed the RMAC Indoor Meet and was not able to work out prior to entering the pentathlon at nationals, where scored just 3,172 points. She also was hampered during much of the outdoor season, before placing fourth in the heptathlon at the RMAC Meet with 4,697 points.
2013—Burst onto the scene after transferring from Western Wyoming College in her hometown by winning the pentathlon at the Black Hills Open Meet in early December (2012) by scoring 3,082 points, 40 more than the runner-up.  She also was fifth in the pentathlon with 3,229 points and fourth in the 60 hurdles at the RMAC Indoor Meet in 9.09 seconds, but a leg injury caused her to miss the outdoor season.
Before CSC:  She placed third in both hurdle races in 4A at the Wyoming State Meet as a senior at Rock Springs High.
