Barthel, who was named to the Chadron State College All-Century Football Team in 2014, possessed strength and quickness and owned the Eagles’ weight room records in the bench press and squat while he was at CSC.
Barthel was named to the RMAC’s all-conference first team as a sophomore and junior. Barthel led CSC’s defensive line with 27 tackles and eight more for a loss as a senior and was named to the conference’s second team. For his career, Barthel had 115 total tackles, nine sacks, 34 tackles for loss, and blocked a kick. Barthel graduated in 2002 with a degree in marketing and recreation. He currently works at Wyoming Machinery Company as a Professional Development Specialist.
