Jeff Rusher was a standout in both football and wrestling at Chadron State. He began his football career as an ace on special teams and became a starting middle linebacker the next three years.
While the wrestling season was always underway before he joined that team, Rusher, a native of Wray, Colorado, excelled in that sport and was a two-time All-American. He was 18-15 as a freshman 19-12 as a sophomore, 23-3 as a junior, and 22-5 as a senior for a career record of 82-35. As a junior, he was a West Regional champion and placed third at 197 pounds at the national tournament. As a senior, he finished sixth.
Rusher finished his CSC football career with 203 tackles, including 144 that were unassisted and 17.5 tackles for losses.
Rusher and his wife, Shawna, a 2005 CSC graduate live in Imperial, Nebraska as of 2019. They have three children, Riley, Hayley, and Edward. At the time of his induction, Rusher owned a landscaping business and coached wrestling at Chase County High School.
