Michael Wahlstrom, a Chadron native, was the top pass-catching target for the Eagles for two seasons. Wahlstrom returned home, after a year at the University of Wyoming, to lead the Eagles in receptions and receiving yards as a sophomore in 2001 and again as a junior in 2002. Wahlstrom earned first team all-conference in 2002, when he helped the Eagles claim back-to-back Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships with 801 receiving yards on 64 catches.
The 6-3, 200-pound receiver was particularly known for his toughness, playing through injury and missing only one game. He was credited by his coaches as a vicious, downfield blocker and a “complete player”.
Wahlstrom’s career figures still rank him among the top 10 all-time at CSC in every receiving category.
After earning an MBA at CSC, Wahlstrom started a career in insurance. In 2010 he took an opportunity in Atlanta, Georgia, for a national insurance company. Since then he has served in leadership roles in underwriting and sales and is now the VP of Sales and Account Management for United Healthcare in Atlanta.
Michael serves as an executive leader on the American Heart Association board of directors Atlanta chapter, as well as other volunteer opportunities in metro-Atlanta.
