Tanya came to Chadron State after leading Douglas High to the Class 3A state championship and was named the state tournament’s most valuable player in 1994.
She was a valuable alternate on the Eagles’ RMAC championship team in 1994-95 and was a starter the next three years.
She was the CSC scoring and rebounding leader as both a sophomore and a senior and was second in both categories as a junior.
She finished her career in 1997-98 with 1,119 points and 605 rebounds. Those totals are still seventh and third on CSC’s all-time lists, respectively, the same as when she graduated.
Tanya shot 46 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line during her career.
After graduating from CSC with a degree in business, Tanya worked in telecommunications in Chicago for nine years. She then earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Wyoming in 2011. After working at the Converse County Hospital in Douglas for more than a year, she accepted a position at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver in 2013.
