SPEARFISH, S.D. -- May 8, 2016 -- Chadron State College women's track and field program claimed its first-ever Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship on the final day of the conference meet in Spearfish, South Dakota, today.

The Eagles ran away from the field on Sunday, reaching 172 total points and besting second-place Black Hills State by 69 points. Adams State finished third with 101 points, while CSU-Pueblo (97) and Western State (96.5) rounded out the top five.

CSC women notched at least one podium finisher in nine events Sunday, winning gold in four.

Stachia Reuwsaat, Shelby Bozner, Kelsy Wood and Tiffany Thomas took the 4x100 relay with a time of 46.80 seconds, good enough to hit the NCAA provisional standard of 47 seconds.

The Eagles went one-two in the women's 100 hurdles. Bozner took the title with a time of 14.05 seconds, while Wood finished second in 14.16. Bozner finished third in the 400 hurdles (1:00.75), after setting the CSC program record of 59.71 on Friday in qualifying. She also took bronze in the javelin throw, hitting a mark of 37.32 meters (122'-05.00").

After contributing to 44 of the Eagles' 172 points in the meet, Bozner was named Athlete of the Meet on the women's side.

Reuwsaat claimed the 100-meter dash title, finishing in 11.65 seconds to take a half a tenth off her school record set on Friday.

Thomas won the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 24.71 seconds, and finished the 400 in 55 seconds even, to take second.

Kenzie May (11.51) finished third in the triple jump, going 11.51 meters (37'-09.25").

The 4x400 team consisting of Bozner, Nikki Glasson, Sami Schmit, and Thomas, was third in 3:47.81.

Four silver medals and a bronze contributed to a strong Sunday finish for the CSC men, who finished third in the team standings at 140 points. Adams State University was first with 185, and Colorado School of Mines was second with 163.

Zerek Jones was good for two medals, finishing second in both the high jump (2.02 meters; 6'-07.50") and the 400 meters (47.79) where he recorded a provisional.

Sophomore Dez Smith made his mark on the RMAC Championships as runner-up in the triple jump, where he went 14.44 meters (47'-04.50") for a personal best.

The 4x100 relay squad of Damarcus Simpson, Andre Woods, Martin Moriel, and Isaiah Castellaw was also good for a silver medal, running a 41.32 in the finals.

Simpson added a third-place finish in the 100 meter dash, where he ran a personal best of 10.47, which is a provisional mark.

Following today's events, the RMAC track and field coaches voted on special awards, which were announced today. Bozner took home Field Athlete of the Year on the women's side, while Simpson earned RMAC Field Athlete of the Year for the men. CSC head coach Brad Gamble was the women's track and field Coach of the Year.

Chadron State track and field athletes have one more meet on the schedule, where they may still qualify for NCAA Championships. Several members of the two teams may compete at the Colorado Mines Last Chance Meet on Sunday, May 15, in Golden, Colorado, before NCAA accepted lists are announced Tuesday, May 17 by 6 p.m. ET.
