Herl set a new indoor PR in the shot put on Friday at the CU Open in Boulder, Colorado, throwing a provisional mark of 14.65 meters (48-00.75) to take third place in front of a couple of Colorado State Rams. Her performance moved her up to ninth nationally in the event. She also hit a mark of 21.59 meters (70-10) in the weight throw, which was her best since December and trails only one other Division II student-athlete in the nation.
