Hanson could be the second thrower for the Eagle women to qualify for NCAAs in as many weeks, going a personal-best and provisional 54.28 meters (178-1) at the Black Hills State Yellow Jacket Invitational. Hanson defeated two-time defending RMAC outdoor hammer champ Madison McLaughlin, a BHSU alumna, by more than 11 feet with her sixth and final attempt, which ranks 12th on the national performance lists and second in the conference behind teammate Mel Herl. She also placed second in the discus throw in Spearfish.
