Martens provisionally qualified in three events at BHSU on Saturday, winning the trifecta of shot put, discus, and hammer throw at the meet. His hammer mark of 59.10 meters (193-11) broke a 14-year-old school record by nearly 10 feet, and his shot throw of 16.09 meters (52-9.5) was a personal best. He went 50.21 meters (164-9) in the discus to win that event as well. He now leads the RMAC in all three events with a hammer mark that ranks ninth on the national lists and a discus throw that is 12th. In addition, his shot put mark is 17th, putting him in the conversation to qualify for NCAAs in all three events.
