2022 - Janet Raymer enters her seventh season as head women's basketball coach at Chadron State College in 2022-23.
Over the past six seasons, Raymer's teams have been known for their success on and off the court, with the women's basketball program routinely holding among the highest team grade point averages of any CSC athletics program.
Raymer's ties to the Nebraska and high plains region are strong. Last year's roster of 22 players includes 17 who played either high school or junior college basketball, or both, in Wyoming, Colorado, or Western Nebraska.
In 2022-23 she returns nine of last year's letterwinners, which includes sophomore forward Ashayla Powers. The All-RMAC honorable mention recipient led the team in scoring, rebounding, shooting percentage, and free throw percentage, recording three double-doubles and a season high of 27 points against Adams State. Powers also earned a spot on the Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska NCAA DII First Team and made RMAC Academic Honor Roll following the 2021-22 season
Other returners include All-Nebraska DII honorable mention Samiyah Worrell, Emily Achter, Olyvia Pacheco, Micheala Dammann, Riley Aiono, Olivia Waufle, Elle Ravenscroft, and Kadyn Comer.
Raymer has been involved in the day-to-day affairs of the CSC women's basketball program for a total of eight seasons, with two seasons as the coaching assistant. While assisting the Eagles, she was actively involved in recruiting high school athletes in the high school and junior college ranks.
As coaching assistant, Raymer also served as tournament director for the CSC Hoop Shoot, and directed CSC girls' basketball camps. In addition to assisting with practices, scouting, and in-game coaching, she had a part in most of the details of the program including academics, travel, and fund-raising.
She continues to run the Hoop Shoot as well as team and prospect summer camps, and clinics for younger "future Eagles."
Prior to taking the position at Chadron State, Raymer served as the head girls' basketball coach and assistant boys' basketball coach at her alma mater Hay Springs High School just 19 miles outside of Chadron.
She also served the CSC program as a volunteer assistant from 2011-2012, when the program produced its most recent Academic All-American, Kaitlin Petri.
During her ascent into coaching, Raymer held a product demonstration position with technology firm Fiserv, based out of Lincoln, which began shortly after her graduation from CSC in 2003.
Raymer earned four letters on the Chadron State basketball team, starting at point guard three of four seasons. As a senior in 2002-03, Raymer averaged 5.6 points, led the team in both steals and assists and was chosen by her teammates as both the best defensive player and the most valuable player.
Raymer is a native of Hay Springs, Neb. She is married to Kelsey Scott and the pair reside just outside of Chadron.
