Eagles snap losing skid at Highlands

Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Mollie Jones had 11 kills and Mallory Irvine added 10 more as the Eagles snapped their seven-match losing streak by defeating New Mexico Highlands 25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 25-14 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Saturday evening at the Wilson Complex.
 
The Eagles, now 4-15 overall and 2-9 in the RMAC, had one of their better hitting performances of the season posting an attack percentage of .226.
 
While Jones, who hit a match-high .333, and Irvine, who had just four hitting errors, were the only Eagles to finish in double digit kills, they didn't have to carry the offense.
 
Erika Roybal had seven kills and Lexi Hoagland and Jessica Jester had six apiece.
 
Chadron State also played well at the net – the Eagles finished with 15 total blocks led by five from Irvine – and served six aces.
 
Justine Ackie, who led CSC with 21 set assists, served two aces and Jester added two aces and four blocks.
 
Libero Kristina Harter added a match-high 17 digs and also provided two kills from the backrow.
 
Chadron State will host three matches next week, beginning Thursday against CSU-Pueblo. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
