Box Score CHADRON – Seven different players had at least two kills and the Western State volleyball team earned its first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory of the season by sweeping Chadron State 25-22, 25-21, 25-23 Friday night at Armstrong Gymnasium.
The Eagles, now 4-17 overall and 2-10 in the conference, will host Adams State University tonight (Saturday). First serve is set for 7 p.m.
On Friday, Western State (2-18, 1-11 RMAC) made the plays when it had to. Each of the three sets featured at least five ties and the lead changed hands 16 total times.
Makenna Christ led the Mountaineers with nine kills, Kallee Cool added eight and Ali Smith finished with seven.
Setter Molly Dolson, a transfer from Wright State, also provided some offensive punch, finishing with five kills, a match-high 32 set assists and a team-high 20 digs.
Mallory Irvine paced Chadron State's offense for the second night in a row, finishing with 15 kills while hitting .519. She had just one hitting error in 27 total attacks and had three blocks.
Erika Roybal added six kills and two blocks and
Jessica Jester had four kills and three blocks.
Justine Ackie finished with 17 set assists and
Alyssa Bauer added 16 more.

Kristina Harter had a match-high 25 digs and
Ashley Bargen had 11.
