The Chadron State College men's basketball team will be looking for its first win of the season this weekend as the Eagles take on Colorado Mines and Colorado Christian Friday and Saturday.
Both games tip off at 7 p.m.
The Mines men are 4-2 and split against New Mexico teams. They lost 77-66 to Western New Mexico, but won in overtime 89-84 to Highlands behind 6-foot-9 center Trevor Wages, who scored 30 points and hauled in 14 rebounds. In addition, sophomore guard Brian Muller scored 25 points, including 14 of 15 from the free throw line.
Mines also has defeated Minot 87-83 in overtime behind Muller's 28 points and edged Dallas Baptist 90-89. One of the losses was to Nebraska-Kearney 75-72.
Wages is averaging 17.8 points and 10.2 rebounds through the six games. Muller, who is 6-foot, 145 pounds, is averaging 20.8 points.
The Colorado Christian men have already played 10 games and are 5-5. Last weekend, they lost to Highland 87-81 and to Western New Mexico 72-62 while opening RMAC play. The leading scorer so far is Mike Brown, a 6-3 sophomore, at 11.2 points a game.
The CSC men (0-6) are led by junior forward
Zac Bargen, who is averaging 18.2 points and 5.8 rebounds. Another junior,
Grant Stone, is second on the lists at 9.7 points and 4.5 rebounds.
