Colorado Mesa strikes CSC

Box Score CHADRON – Christian Otzen had 16 kills and Colorado Mesa hit .248 as a team to sweep Chadron State (25-20, 25-10, 25-21) Friday evening in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match.
 
With the win, Colorado Mesa improves to 13-3 overall and 6-1 in the conference. Chadron State, now 3-13 and winless in the RMAC will host Fort Lewis tonight (Saturday) in a match. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
 
Setter Jordyn Moody added 37 set assists, three aces and 10 digs and the Mavericks' offense – they committed 13 errors in 117 attempts – proved too tough for Chadron State to handle.
 
While Otzen was the only Maverick to finish in double-digit kills, she had plenty of help. Melissa Hess had eight kills and three blocks, Erin Perez added six kills and 14 digs and Audrey Steinkirchner finished with five kills.
 
Jessica Jester led Chadron State with eight kills, hit .261 and had a team-high five blocks, Hanna Flaming added six kills and both Barbie DeCent and Alia Brennan finished with five kills.
 
Justine Ackie paced the Eagles' offense – they hit .083 as a team – with 13 set assists.
 
Also for Chadron State, Alyssa Bauer had a match-high 16 digs.
