Box Score CHADRON – Samantha Johnson had 13 kills and Hannah Redman added 12 and 11 digs to lead the South Dakota School of Mines volleyball team to a 25-16, 25-16, 20-25, 25-21 non-conference victory over Chadron State Tuesday in Armstrong Gymnasium.

With the win, the Hardrockers improve to 7-17 overall. Chadron State, which will host its final two home matches of the season Friday and Saturday, falls to 4-19.

While Johnson and Redman provided much of the scoring punch, they received help. Kirsten Johnson chipped in with eight kills, Justine Blade added seven more and served two aces and the Hardrockers, who hit .185 as a team, took advantage of nine Chadron State service errors.

The two teams traded punches in the first set – it featured seven ties and five lead changes – but following a long service game from Blade, the Hardrockers put the set away.

The Eagles hit .135 and won the sideout 15 out of 20 changes in their third set victory but had a difficult time getting their offense going in the fourth, hitting just .087.

Five players had at least six kills for Chadron State.
Nikki Schmidt led the way with 10,
Erika Roybal had nine and a team-high 17 digs and
Jessica Jester finished with eight and four blocks.
