Wayne State powers past CSC

Box Score CHADRON – Four players scored in double figures and the Wayne State women's basketball team scored 40 points in the paint as the Wildcats turned back Chadron State 78-59 in a non-conference game Thursday evening at Armstrong Gymnasium.
 
Jordan Spencer scored a game-high 18 points, Mille Niggeling added 16 off the bench and Ashton Yossi hit two big 3-pointers in the first half to finish with 11 points and Addy Roller scored 10 and added six assists as the Wildcats improved to 2-0.
 
Chadron State jumped out to a quick three-point lead early in the first half but Wayne State went on a 17-5 scoring run through a six minute stretch to take a 45-28 lead into the locker room.
 
Wayne pushed its lead to as many as 26 points late in the second half and played about even with CSC, outscoring the Eagles 33-31 in the final 20 minutes.
 
Kayli Rageth led Chadron State (0-2) with 16 points, including three of four from long range, and Kattie Ranta had a double double with 12 points and 13 boards.
 
Also for Chadron State, Dallas Shaw sank four treys and finished with 15 points and both Greer Babbe and Leana Tajkov scored six points and added two blocks.
 
Hattie Guzman led CSC with five assists and Shaw had two steals.
 
The Eagles made all eight of their free throws and seven of 20 from long range, but they struggled from the field, sinking 22 of 56 shots.
 
Wayne State shot 53 percent from the field (28-53) and hit 18 of its 21 foul shots.
 
Chadron State will play at MSU-Billings Saturday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
