Metro State edges Eagles in season finale

Box Score DENVER—The Chadron State College volleyball team gave Metro State about all it could handle Saturday night, but the Roadrunners prevailed in five sets in the regular-season finale for both teams.
 
The Eagles won the first and fourth sets by scores of 25-23 while Metro State took the second set 25-21 and the third 25-11. The Roadrunners then won the fifth set 15-9.
 
Metro State, now 17-10 for the season and 13-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, got 33 of its 63 kills from Alysa Heath and Lauren Quijano. Heath had 17 kills and Quijano 16 while making just one error in 28 hits for a resounding .536 percentage.
 
As a team, the Roadrunners hit .364 percent.
 
Metro State also got one unassisted block and five assisted blocks from Kylee Hoagland and 19 digs from libero Alex Green.
 
The Eagles, who end the season at 6-23 overall and 3-16 in the conference, hit .200.  They were led by Erika Roybal with 16 kills, followed by Jessica Jester's 12, Barbie DeCent's 11 and Alia Brennan's 10.
 
Setter Justine Ackie handed out 50 assists. She and Brennan each participated in three blocks.
