Eagles fall to Yellow Jackets

Box Score SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State hit .184 as a team and weathered Chadron State in a tight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match (25-19, 25-19, 25-19) Tuesday at the Young Center in Spearfish, S.D.
 
Amy O'Neill had a match-high 12 kills and Caitlin Templeton added eight more as the Yellow Jackets eked out their sweep. The two teams traded the lead 13 times and the match was tied 22 instances.
 
O'Neill and Templeton controlled much of the offense but Black Hills, now 7-18 overall and 3-13 in the RMAC, received seven kills and four solo blocks from Shelby Mayer.
 
The Yellow Jackets also served four aces without committing any errors. The Eagles, however, finished with six service errors.
 
The Eagles' offense played well, despite hitting .086. Erika Roybal hit a whopping .348 and had nine kills, while Nikki Schmidt finished with eight kills. Jessica Jester added seven kills and both Barbie DeCent and Alia Brennan finished with six.
 
Also for CSC, Justine Ackie had 28 set assists and 14 digs and Alyssa Bauer had a match-high 23 digs.
 
The Eagles (5-21, 2-14 RMAC) will play at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Friday. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
