Both Chadron State College basketball teams will be hoping to capitalize on the momentum they gained last Friday and Saturday when they played perhaps their best games of the season at home against Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines this weekend on the road in Colorado.
The Eagles will visit Colorado-Colorado Springs on Friday night and Colorado State-Pueblo on Saturday night. All four teams beat CSC in Chadron in late January.
The Eagles are fresh from winning three of four games last weekend and went into overtime in the game they lost.
The CSC women defeated Colorado Christian 67-55 and Colorado Mines 76-62 while the Eagles' men slipped past Colorado Christian 75-71 and took Mines to overtime before losing 75-70.
The women's teams from both Colorado Springs and Pueblo are riding high in the RMAC standings and are assured of berths in the conference's postseason playoffs.
The UCCS Mountain Lions are 17-5 overall and 14-4 in the conference for third place in the standings. The ThunderWolves are 16-6 and 13-5, respectively, and are fourth.
Fort Lewis beat both teams, but both defeated Adams State on the road last weekend.
The Colorado Springs men are 4-18 for the season and 4-14 in the league. The Pueblo men are 11-13 and 10-8. Both Fort Lewis and Adams State toppled Colorado Springs last weekend, but Pueblo edged Adams State 67-65 on Saturday night when guard Arden Dennis, who scored just eight points, sank a field goal with three seconds remaining.
After this weekend, the Eagles will conclude the season by playing at Black Hills State on Saturday, March 2.
