Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – Four players scored in double figures and Fort Lewis sank 29 of 40 free throws en route to its 78-72 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory Friday in Durango, Colo.

The two-pronged attack of Nick Tomsick and Alex Herrera led Fort Lewis (7-3, 4-2 RMAC) in scoring and foul shooting. Tomsick finished with a game-high 21 points, including a 14-for-17 performance from the foul line, and Herrera scored 19 points and hit seven of 11 from the charity stripe. Herrera also added eight rebounds and nine blocks.

Fort Lewis also received 13 points and eight rebounds from Kody Salcido and Will Morse chipped in 11.

Fort Lewis owned the lead a majority of the time in the game thanks to early scoring runs in each half. The Skyhawks burst out of the gate with a 7-0 spurt in the first half and they opened the second half on a 10-0 scoring skein.

The Skyhawks eventually pushed their lead to 50-36 early in the second stanza but the Eagles (5-6, 2-5 RMAC) responded with a 14-3 scoring run to trail 53-50. Chadron State never regained the lead following the run, though, and Fort Lewis sank seven of eight free throws in the final two minutes to seal the victory.
For the game, Fort Lewis shot over 51 percent from the field (22-43), while Chadron State connected on 35 percent (24-69). The Eagles also made eight 3-pointers and grabbed 23 offensive rebounds.

David Downey hit eight of 14 shots from the field to lead Chadron State with 19 points and
Christopher Smith added 16 points and eight rebounds.
