RAPID CITY, S.D.—The Chadron State College women's basketball led 29-26 at halftime and traded baskets with South Dakota Mines during the first eight minutes of the second half, but was outscored 22-7 down the stretch as the Hardrockers won a non-conference game 65-49 here Friday night.

The Eagles jumped out to a 10-3 lead and made 12 of 17 free throws while taking their halftime advantage. There were seven lead changes in the second half before the Hardrockers went ahead 43-42 on a layup by freshman center Stacie Hull with just over 12 minutes to play.

Mines, now 2-4, also tallied the next 13 points before Chadron State, 0-4, ended an eight-minute scoring drought.

Hull was the game's leading scorer with 14 points on seven of eight shooting from the field. Teammate Alexis Long added 12 points.

No one reached double figures for the Eagles, but freshman center
Maka Daysh scored nine points and senior guard
Kate Simonton tallied eight.

Emma Block and Rudy Luder, who were playing their first games for the Eagles after clearing up eligibility questions, added seven points.

Mines shot 44.6 percent (25-56) from the field, but only 12 of 23 from the free throw line. The Eagles were just 25 percent from the field (14-56) from the field and 18-28 from the line. Both teams were cold from long range. The Hardrockers were three of 15 and CSC was three of 20.

Chadron State will open play in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6 by hosting Colorado Mesa and Western State.
