Box Score DENVER, COLO. – Regis University defeated Chadron State College in its final regular season Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match. The Rangers won 25-12, 25-15 and 25-21. Regis University clinched the fourth seed for the RMAC tournament, while CSC finished 13
th in the conference.
Regis, whose head coach reached his 600
th career win, hit the ball efficiently with a hitting percentage of .351. Regis had three athletes with over 10 kills, led by Caitie Breaux's 16. Mary Schroeder had 12 kills, while Maggie Steward, who had a match-high .562 hitting percentage, had 10.
The Rangers setters Rebecca Sponcil and Jaclyn Williamson combined for 40 assists.
Defensively, Gina Morgan had a match-best four blocks and Maya Kirkeby led all competitors with 11 digs.
Chadron State struggled as a team, hitting less than .100 for the match.
Erika Roybal and
Lelalelei Nomura both had six kills on the night, and setter
Shelby Gardner ended with 18 assists to five different teammates.
The Eagles battled hard up front, with four women recording two blocks.
Alia Brennan and
Ana Kasljevic both had two block assists, while Gardner and Roybal recorded a solo block and block assist each.
Chadron State College closes out its season 3-24 overall with a 2-16 RMAC mark. The Eagles highlighted their season with a strong home win against Western New Mexico as well as sweeping Western State University on the road in interim head coach Chris Well's first season.
