Hartegan leads Metro State over Chadron State

Box Score DENVER – Metro State's Emily Hartegan scored 21 points to lead the Roadrunners to a 67-47 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win over Chadron State College Saturday evening in Denver.
 
While Hartegan led the way in scoring, Deni Jacobs did the work down low for the Roadrunners, notching a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Jacobs also had three assists.
 
Metro State (6-3 overall, 3-2 RMAC) outshot and outrebounded Chadron State College throughout the game to seal the win. The Roadrunners shot 51 percent as a team and limited the Eagles to just 25 percent from the field. Metro State outrebounded CSC 44 to 23.
 
The Eagles (1-9 overall, 1-5 RMAC) were led by guard Emma Block, who scored the teams' last nine points of the first half to bring the Eagles within seven before the break. Block, who had a team-high 17 points, did most of her damage at the line, making nine of 10 free throws.
 
Hattie Guzman sank two of three from beyond the arc, accounting for eight points for CSC.
 
Also for Chadron State, Stephanie Knowles had four steals, helping the Eagles score 21 points off of turnovers.
 
Chadron State College returns to action Friday, Jan. 2, when it hosts Fort Lewis at 5:30 p.m.
