CHADRON – The Chadron State College wrestling team split two non-conference duals during a triangular it hosted Saturday afternoon at the Nelson Physical Activity Center.
 
The Eagles, now 4-3 overall, defeated Hastings 46-3 and fell to 16^th-ranked Augustana 31-15. In the day's other match, Augustana beat Hastings 46-6.
 
Chadron State won nine of 10 matches over Hastings. Eight of them earned the Eagles bonus points and the other victory was a forfeit for Chance Helmick. Robert Ozuna at 125 pounds and Taylor Summers at 133 opened the dual with back-to-back major decisions and Jacob Anderson followed with one of his own at 149.
 
At 157, Reed Burgener pinned Alex Tarin in the first period and Caleb Copeland followed with a pin at 174. Dylan Fors then had a major decision at 184 and Devan Fors at 197 and Jake Weber at 285 closed the dual out with a pair of pins.
 
Things didn't go as smoothly against Augustana as the Vikings won seven of 10 matches. The Eagles did have some bright spots, though. Summers pinned Morgan Engbrecht in the second period and Copeland had his second pin of the day by besting Tim Weber at 174 in 4:21.
 
Devan Fors also earned a 3-2 decision for the Eagles at 197 pounds.
 
Chadron State will be back in action Jan. 15 when it hosts Colorado Mesa.
