Mines holds off Chadron State

Box Score GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines sank nine 3-pointers in the second half to rally for an 87-63 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State Saturday.

In the first half, the Eagles were up 10-17, shooting 50 percent from the field, but the Orediggers picked up its offensive performance late in the half to take a 38-37 lead going into the second period.

The Eagles competed with Mines at the start of the second half, but Mines pulled away with an 11 point run to make the score 54-43. They would continue to lead by as many as 23 for the remainder of the game.

The Eagles struggled with turnovers as the Oredigger's defense forced Chadron State into 23 miscues.

Mines placed four players in double figures including a game-high 24 points from Courtney Gallo, while Courtney Martin added 13 points off the bench.

Senior Kattie Ranta led the Eagles with 19 points, Kayli Rageth sank 17 points and Kate Simonton charted 11.

The Eagles return to action next weekend as they host University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Friday and CSU-Pueblo on Saturday.
