Ranta goes over 1,000 career points in CSC setback

Box Score CHADRON — Colorado State-Pueblo shot exactly 50 percent from the field in each half and seniors Alex Evans and Taylor Fox combined for half their team's points during an 80-64 victory over Chadron State in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday night.
 
The ThunderWolves, now 20-5 for the season and solidly in control of second place in the RMAC standings at 16-3, were 16 of 32 on their field goal shots in the first half and 13 of 26 in the second half. They also were 20-27 from the free throw line.
 
Evans sank 10 of 13 field goal tries en route to scoring 22 points and Fox was five of 12 from the field and eight of nine from the line while tallying 18 points. Fox also grabbed 10 rebounds.
 
Katie Nehf added 13 points and seven rebounds for Pueblo.
 
Senior Kattie Ranta, playing in her next to last game, became the 10th Chadron State women's player to score 1,000 career points while pouring in 24 Saturday night. She was 11 of 20 from the field and two of three from the line, also grabbed six rebounds, and is averaging 17.6 points and 9.3 rebounds this season.
 
Another senior, Kayli Rageth, had a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Freshman Maddie Metzger added 11 points in 11 minutes of playing time.
 
Pueblo led 46-31 at halftime. The ThunderWolves outscored the Eagles by just 34-33 in the second half, but led by at least 14 points during the second half.  CSC shot 34.8 percent from the field (24-69) and 12-22 from the charity stripe.
