CHADRON – Adams State's Juwan Buchanan scored 18 points, including 16 in the second half, while leading the Grizzlies to an 80-66 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State College Saturday at the Chicoine Center.

Chadron State, now 3-9 overall and 2-6 in the RMAC, will host Black Hills State University Saturday, Jan. 10. Tip-off for the women's and men's doubleheader is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Eagles fell victim to a hot-shooting Adams State (6-4, 3-4 RMAC) team in the second half. The Grizzlies owned a 36-35 lead at halftime and traded shots with the Eagles in the opening eight minutes. Chadron State's
Davante McCallam tied things up at 52-52 following a 3-point play, but following the tie Adams State went on a 15-0 scoring run in four minutes that the Eagles were unable to recover from.

Buchanan scored eight-straight points, including two 3-point plays, to propel the scoring burst and Justin Kaufman, who scored a game-high 21 points, scored the final seven. Kaufman sank two of his six treys in the run, including a 4-point play.

In the second half, Adams State shot 60 percent from the field (15-25), while Chadron State hit 40 percent (10-25). For the game, the Grizzlies shot 51 percent (28-55) and the Eagles made 43 percent of their shots (23-54).

The Eagles had more second chance points than Adams State – 14 to 13 – but the Grizzlies managed to score 27 points of 24 CSC miscues.

Kendrick Holliman led Chadron State with 20 points and seven rebounds before fouling out in the second half.
Evan Brooks added 19 points and four board and
Christopher Smith chipped in 11. Both Brooks and Smith sank three 3-point attempts.
