The Eagles were hot out of the gate, getting a 4-1 advantage at the start of set one. Things wouldn't get any easier though. Despite a 5-0 Chadron State lead early in the second set, the ThunderWolves managed to seize a lead at 7-6, and held it until the Eagles were able to knot it up at 24 apiece. From there, eight more lead changes ensued as the two teams battled into the mid-30s for a two-point advantage. When the dust settled, CSU-Pueblo earned the 35-33 win in set two.
In set three, it was CSU-Pueblo gaining the upper hand early, and CSC played catch-up for the entire regulation before again coming back with a 4-0 run to tie 24-24. Six points later, the Eagles prevailed 28-26.
In the fourth and final set, the lead changed hands 12 times, and neither team could get more than a three-point advantage. But for the second time in four sets, the Eagles pushed through in dramatic fashion, winning set four 26-24.
"We showed a lot of grit and tenacity as a team," said CSC head coach
Chris Wells. "
Madison Webb was solid all night for us and was a difference maker."
