CHADRON, Neb. - October 31, 2015 - Despite another solid offensive performance, the Chadron State volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Metropolitan State University of Denver tonight. The Roadrunners, at 16-9 (12-3 RMAC) remain in a tie for second place in the conference. The Eagles (7-16, 6-9 RMAC) are alone in 11th place, but still have a chance to grab a place in the RMAC tournament.
Lelalelei Nomura led the team with eight kills, coming on an incredible .889 hitting percentage, but it wasn't nearly enough to overcome the 15 kills per set and 2.67 blocks per set posted by the Roadrunners. Nomura also led the team with 3.0 total blocks.
Rudy Leasau had nine digs in the loss to lead the Eagles.
CSC trailed mostly in all three sets, leading only briefly in the early moments of sets two and three. Both leads came about as a result of MSU Denver errors.
Chadron State remains one match behind CSU-Pueblo, Colorado Christian, and Adams State for the eighth and final conference tournament spot. They own a head-to-head win over both CSU-Pueblo and Colorado Christian, which would help in the event of a two-way tie with either team. They lost to Adams State at home.
This weekend, Chadron State hosts home matches with South Dakota School of Mines (7-18, 3-12 RMAC) and Black Hills State University (7-16, 4-11 RMAC).
