Eagles open home schedule Sunday and Monday

CHADRON, Neb. -- The Eagles' home opener will be a rare Sunday matinee contest at 2 p.m. against Dickinson State.  On Monday night at 7, CSC will host Montana State-Northern.  Both are NAIA teams that launched their schedules a month ago.

Dickinson had a 2-2 record entering the weekend, and just lost an exhibition contest to Idaho State in Pocatello 110-85 on Monday night.  The Blue Hawks' 7-foot center, Thomas Cowan, scored 22 points and guard Julian Vasquez tallied 18.

The Blue Hawks scored more than 100 points during wins over wins over Oglala Lakota and Yellowstone Christian Colleges.  The previous losses were to Minot State 78-71, University of Mary 88-66 and Montana State-Northern 76-65. The Eagles' two weekend oponents met on November 7 in Havre, Montana.

The Northern Lights were a perfect 7-0 after defeating Arizona Christian, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, 91-84 in overtime and Benedictine-Mesa, another Arizona team, 71-65 last weekend during a tournament in Las Vegas.

The Lights were 16 of 34 from 3-point range against Dickinson and hit 17 treys against Arizona Christian.

The Eagles fell 84-66 in a midweek game against in-state rival Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday night to come home 0-1 overall.
