The Chadron State College wrestling team will be striving to even its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record when it visits New Mexico Highland on Thursday night and Adams State on Friday night for duals.
Â
The Eagles are 1-3 in the conference and 7-7 overall.Â
Â
The Highlands Cowboys are 1-2 in the RMAC and 6-4 for the season. The usually-strong Adams State Grizzlies are struggling. They are 0-6 overall and 0-7 in the conference. Highlands topped the Grizzlies 27-15 on Jan. 29 for its conference victory.
Â
Despite having a down season as a team, Adams State boasts of a special wrestler. The Grizzlies' 125-pound senior, Jerry Huff, was the national runner-up at that weight class in 2013 and is rated third this season. He did not compete in 2013-14.
Â
Several Eagles are entering the final month of this season with excellent records. Both
Taylor Summers at 133 pounds and
Jacob Anderson at 149 are 20-6 and
Caleb Copeland is 19-11 at 174. All three are sophomores. Freshman
Chance Helmick is 14-8 at 165.
Â
Seniors
Dylan Fors at 184 pound and
Devan Fors at 197 are on the cusp of .500 records. Dylan is 8-10 and Devan is 14-15.
