CHADRON – Chadron State College's softball team hosted its first two home games of the 2015 season against Black Hills State University Saturday in a double-header Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup. The teams play again Sunday starting at 11 a.m.
CSC (2-15, 2-3 RMAC) came out swinging, taking an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when

Shea Graham would score in the second after smashing a double to right field, advancing their lead 2-0.
In the third inning Chadron State went on a hitting streak, scoring seven runs off of five hits. Leading 9-0, CSC would hold off BHSU behind pitcher
Tayler Hall, who met 20 batter and struck out eight in five innings. The Yellow Jackets (2-10, 1-5 RMAC) would score an unearned run in the fifth, but Eagles' catcher
Zoe Humphries made a play at the plate to halt Black Hills State and keep Chadron State's run-rule advantage. Chadron State would win in five, 9-1.
The Eagles would falter in the second game, losing 11-3 in five innings. BHSU's leadoff hitter Nia Shumpert led the way with two runs on three hits and three stolen bases. Designated hitter Erica Everson, three hits in four at bats, would smash a three-run home run in the fifth to seal the win in five innings.
Offensively, Kruger led the way for the Eagles, scoring a run and a combined three RBIs in three at bats. Defensively,
Tayler Hall picked up her second win of the season, throwing a combined nine strike outs against 21 batters.
