Wins elusive for CSC volleyball team

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Chadron State College volleyball team had some impressive performances at the Lopers Fall Classic in Kearney over the weekend, but did not win any of its four matches.

The Eagles won a set against three of the opponents and had two players put up some exceptional numbers in one of the matches.  Rudy Leasau had 19 kills and only one hitting error and Gaby Varela had 11 kills and no hitting miscues against the University of Mary on Saturday.  But the Marauders still won 26-24, 21-25, 25-23 and 25-14.

On Friday, Illinois-Springfield won by scores of 25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21 and the host Lady Lopers, ranked 15th in the nation, prevailed 25-15, 25-12, 25-14.

In the other match on Saturday, Sioux Falls won 25-18, 24-26, 25-17, 25-21.

The Eagles, now 1-7, while playing some rugged non-conference foes, will open their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule this weekend hosting Fort Lewis on Friday and Adams State on Saturday.  Both matches will start at 7 p.m. in the Chicoine Center.
