The Chadron State College volleyball team will begin "a new season" this weekend when it opens its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule by hosting Fort Lewis on Friday night and Adams State on Saturday night. Both matches will begin at 7 in the Chicoine Center. This will be the first time the volleyball team will get to play in front of a home crowd at the Chicoine Center.
The Eagles concluded their non-conference schedule last weekend at the Nebraska-Kearney Classic. They had some impressive performances, but did not win any of the four matches and are 1-7.
Fort Lewis is 3-5 and Adams State is 1-7 entering this weekend's action.
At Kearney, the Eagles won a set against three of the opponents and had two players put up some exceptional numbers in the match against the University of Mary.
Rudy Leasau had 19 kills and only one hitting error and
Gaby Varela had 11 kills and no hitting miscues.
Through the eight non-conference matches, Leasau leads the Eagles in kills with 97, fifth highest in the RMAC. Leasau, fellow transfer Gabie Varela and freshman
Kenzie Chrisman are all hitting above .200. Chrisman is also the team's block leader with 32. Freshman
Madison Webb has handed out 250 set assists and is second on the team in digs with 63, three fewer than libero
Chloe Guillen.
