After splitting its two matches on the road last weekend, the Chadron State volleyball team will be at home this weekend for more Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
Â
The Eagles will host Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday and Western State on Saturday, both in the Chicoine Center starting at 7 p.m.
Â
Both opponents entered this week's schedule at 2-3 in the RMAC. Overall, Pueblo is 4-9 and Western is 4-11.
Â
Defending RMAC champion Colorado Mesa defeated the Eagles last Friday night in Grand Junction, but all three sets were decided by three or fewer points. The next night, CSC downed the Westminster Griffins in Salt Lake City 26-24, 25-17, 25-21. The win was the third of the season for the Eagles and evened their RMAC record at 2-2.
Â
CSC coach Chris Wells said his young and inexperienced team has been in nearly every match this season is getting better.Â
"The kids are competitors and they are showing flashes of being really good," Wells stated. "Several of our leaders are still chipping away some rust because they didn't play last year or they are freshmen. We're hoping for more good things."
Â
The Eagles got some good news this week. Junior Alia Brennan of Chadron, a two-year starter at middle hitter, has been released to begin practicing after she was sidelined for several months because of a weight room mishap.
