CHADRON, Neb. -- Chadron State College Athletics is proud to announce Dr.
Richard Koza as its new Faculty Athletics Representative, who takes over a role which was formerly filled by Dr. Jamie Wada. Koza begins his FAR duties immediately.
"I'm proud and excited to help with Chadron State Athletics," said Koza. "A lot of the student-athletes here are business majors, and as a former CSC student-athlete myself, this is a great way for me to help out and give back to the campus community."
The FARÂ represents faculty in the institution's relationships with the NCAA and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The person filling this position is an official representative of his or her institution, as recognized by the NCAA, and is eligible to serve on the NCAA Division II Management Council, Administrative Committee, and/or the Budget and Finance Committee. In addition, the FAR is charged with the responsibilities of helping to ensure academic integrity, comply with NCAA rules and regulations, and promote student-athlete welfare at her or his institution.
Dr. Koza, a three-time graduate of Chadron State (B.S. '73; M.S. '81; M.B.A. '92), lettered in football at CSC twice and wrestled one year. In 1995, after gaining extensive experience as an insurance agent and real estate appraiser in the private sector, he obtained a Ph.D. in business education from the University of Wyoming.
He has been teaching at CSC for 20 years, and now holds an associate professorship and chairs the Department of Business. His numerous awards for excellence in teaching include accolades from the School of Professional and Graduate Studies and Chadron State College. From 2002-2008 he guided the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) teams at CSC to regional championships and top-16 national placements annually.
