DENVER, Colo. -- February 20, 2016 -- Chadron State College softball remains at an even .500 (6-6-1, 1-1 RMAC) after the first day of conference play, losing a conference opener 11-3 at Regis University (6-7, 1-1 RMAC), and winning the bottom of the doubleheader 9-7.
A big inning sunk the Eagles in the early game, when the Rangers tallied seven runs on four hits and an error. Carlie Sexton's three-run homer highlighted the scoring for the home team. The Eagles'
Shea Graham got a two-run homer in the fifth, finishing 1-for-2 in the game, but Regis' Nicole Hull pitched a complete game with Graham's and
Zoe Humphries' homers giving CSC its only runs.
Later, Graham homered twice, driving in five runs in four at-bats. Humphries and
Aspen Eubanks each batted 3-for-4, with Eubanks plating Humphries for the winning run. Pitcher
Tayler Hall came in during the third inning, with no outs, to pitch five full innings of shutout ball, earning the win.
Courtney Lecher and
Katelyn Kruger also contributed with RBI.
