GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- April 30, 2016 -- The Chadron State College softball team finished the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament at a record of 2-2 after falling 4-1 to Colorado State University-Pueblo in the consolation semifinals.
The Eagles slapped out nine hits, but left multiple runners stranded in six of seven innings, with a total of 12 left on base.
The ThunderWolves scored three of their four runs in dramatic fashion, on solo home runs. Sarah DiTommaso went yard in the second and sixth innings, while Michaela Burpee also put one over the wall in the sixth.
For the Eagles,
Rebekah Anthony led going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double.
Aspen Eubanks was 2-for-4 with a single and a double.
Kayla Michel put the only run across, in the seventh inning, scoring Anthony on a sacrifice fly.
Chadron State eclipsed the program record of 28 wins in the conference postseason, defeating Regis on Friday evening. The Eagles are 29-19-1 overall on the season.
