CSC volleyball prepares for Dixie State, Westminster

CHADRON, Neb. -- After finishing the weekend 2-0 at home, the Chadron State volleyball team travels to St. George, Utah, and Salt Lake City for its longest road trip of the year this weekend.
 
Last weekend, the Eagles swept Black Hills State on Friday and beat the Hardrockers of South Dakota School of Mines in four sets on Saturday. Head Coach Riann Mullis said the weekend was the best the team has played all season.
 
 The Eagles Friday opponent, Dixie State, is 7-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and 12-3 overall.  Their only conference loss is against nationally ranked Colorado School of Mines in five sets last weekend. Both the Eagles and Trailblazers have defeated Western Colorado, Black Hills and South Dakota School of Mines.
 
The Trailblazers are led offensively by Megan Treanor who has 169 kills on the year. To'a Faleao-Baich is second for Dixie State with 142. Setter Jordyn Nelson has 354 assists.
 
Defensively, Lauren Gammell leads the Trailblazers with 94 blocks and Sid Brandon leads with 233 digs.  Gammell ranks second in the RMAC in blocks and Faleao-Baich is second in service aces, with 21.
 
As a team, Dixie State leads the RMAC in blocks and service aces per set.
 
The Westminster Griffins hold a 5-11 record and are 3-5 in the RMAC. They share victories against Western Colorado and Black Hills State with the Eagles, but were swept by South Dakota School of Mines.
 
Offensivley, Audrey Green leads the Griffins with 204 kills, for an average of 3.52 per set, placing her second in the conference. Aggie Roese-Olsen has 442 assists to lead the team.
 
Taylor Harvey has 20 blocks to lead Westminster while Jaylee Lehenbauer leads the team with 131 digs.
 
"We need to keep building off last weekend," Mullis said.
 
The Trailblazers swept the Griffins yesterday.

The Eagles and Trailblazers play at 6 p.m. Against the Griffins, first serve is set for 4 p.m.
