CHADRON, Neb. -- The Chadron State College women's basketball team will enter the University of Sioux Falls Classic this weekend when it plays Bemidji State on Friday and host Sioux Falls on Saturday.
 
Chadron State enters the contest with a 1-1 record, while both opponents are officially starting their season this weekend.
 
The Eagles opened their season last weekend with a victory against Texas A&M International 66-63, but fell to Texas A&M Kingsville 63-57.
 
Junior guard Taryn Foxen leads the Eagles in scoring with 14 points a game after scoring in double figures twice last weekend. She had 12 points against International and 16 against Kingsville. Senior Melisa Kadic and sophomore Jori Peters also both average double figures with 11 points per game.
 
Last season, Bemidji finished 6-22 overall. The Beavers 18 player roster only has one senior and five juniors. The young roster has 12 underclassmen and seven true freshmen.
 
Junior center Taylor Bray returns as BSU's leading scorer and rebounder with 9.6 points and 4.7 boards per game.
 
The Cougars finished 2018-19 with a 23-8 overall record. Last season they defeated the Eagles 90-44.
 
USF has the top nine of the 10 leading scorers from last year back this season. The Cougars have 13 letter winners and all five starters back, along with the addition of several transfers and freshmen. 
 
Senior Kaely Hummel led Sioux Falls in scoring last year with 15.6 points per game.
 
Fridays game against the Beavers tips off at 11 a.m., and Saturdays contest against the Cougars is set to begin at 4 p.m.
