CHADRON, Neb. -- The Chadron State College volleyball went to five sets for the third time this season against South Dakota Mines Saturday night, before falling in an exciting five set match, 24-26, 25-20, 21-25, 25-23, 12-15.

The Eagles tied the score six times in match one but never once led. Match two consisted of four lead changes, the final coming at the beginning of an 11-2 run for CSC.

Mines finished set three on an 8-3 scoring run and set four consisted of 12 ties and five lead changes. Set five had six ties and two lead changes, the final tie being at 8-8.

The loss drops CSC to 14-10 overall and 8-8 in the RMAC. South Dakota Mines improves to 11-15 and 7-10 in the conference.

In the match, the Hardrockers outhit the Eagles .166 to .150.

Shelby Schouten led the Eagles with 16 kills wand an attack percentage of .438.
Rylee Greiman had 13 kills and
Chandler Hageman had 12 while hitting .500. Hageman had a match high nine blocks.

Tori Strickbine recorded a double-double with 50 assists and 10 digs. Libero
Ashton Burditt led the team in digs with 22.
Abby Schaefer followed behind Burditt with 15 and
Karli Noble had 11.

Dana Thomson, who ranks fourth in the nation in total kills, led boths teams with 21 for the Hardrockers. Kassie Luce had 29 assists while Shyann Bastian had 25.

Defensively, Luce had 23 digs and Thomson had 22. Jacey Koethe led Mines with seven blocks.

The Eagle return home as they host MSU-Denver next Thursday and Friday. Both matches are set to begin at 6 p.m. Â
