PUEBLO, Colo. -- January 18, 2020 -- Seniors Jason Anderson and Brandon McGee combined for 40 points and 19 rebounds Saturday night while leading Colorado State-Pueblo to an 85-71 win over Chadron State in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball game in Pueblo.
The 6-foot-8 Anderson made 10 of 11 field goal shots while tallying 24 points and grabbing nine rebounds. McGee, who is 6-3, scored 16 points, claimed 10 rebounds and also handed out seven assists.
The ThunderWolves shot 57 percent (32-56) from the field while the Eagles made only 39 percent (28-71) and were out-rebounded 43-31.
Following an 8-2 scoring spurt, Chadron State led 30-23 with 6:33 left in the first half, but Pueblo was ahead 40-33 at halftime and also outscored the Eagles by seven points in the second half. CSC got the difference down to 51-50 with 13:13 left to play on
Colby Jackson's 3-pointer, but never completely caught up.
The Eagles were just seven of 27 from behind the arc, but Pueblo was only five of 14 from long range.
Senior Brian Rodriguez paced the Eagles with 19 points and six rebounds.
Michael Sparks added 13 points.
Jacob Jefferson and
Kenan Gray, who split time at center, each scored nine.
Pueblo is now 8-9 overall and 6-5 in the RMAC. The Eagles are 3-14 and 2-9.
Chadron State will be back on the road again this coming weekend, playing at Colorado-Colorado Springs and Colorado School of Mines.
