CHADRON, Neb. -- January 8, 2020 -- Following the holidays, the Chadron State College wrestling team will return to action on Friday in San Francisco for duals with three teams.

The opponents, in order, will be Simon Fraser of Canada, host San Francisco State and Minnesota State at Mankato. 

"They'll all be good competition for us," said CSC Coach Brett Hunter.  

The National Wrestling Coaches Association has Minnesota State ranked 15th in the nation. The Eagles are 19th, and San Francisco State is 25th.

Thirteen Eagles are taking the trip.

Three seniors who won all three of their matches when the Eagles hosted Western Wyoming, Nebraska-Kearney and Cloud County Community College in mid-December duals have been the team leaders.  Brandon Kile at 133 pounds is 6-1 for the season,

Chase Clasen is 5-2 at 157 pounds and Wade French is 8-2 at 197.

Others with winning records are junior Tate Allison, who is 5-4 at 165, and the Eagles' redshirt freshmen heavyweights, Mason Watt, who is 7-4, and Eli Hinojosa, 13-3.  Hinojosa won 10 of 11 matches at two open tournaments that the others mentioned here did not enter.

Hunter said two Eagles who have overcome health issues are expected to make their season debuts this weekend.  They are redshirt freshman Joe Taylor at 141 pounds and junior Chance Karst at 149 pounds. 

After the trip to California, the Eagles will be at home for three RMAC duals next week.  They will be against New Mexico Highlands on Jan. 16, Colorado State-Pueblo on Jan. 18 and Colorado Mines on Jan. 19.
