Box Score LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- October 16, 2021 -- The Chadron State College volleyball team (4-13, 2-8 RMAC) was swept 25-18, 25-22, and 25-10 by Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent Colorado Christian (8-10, 5-5 RMAC) Saturday night.
Though the Eagles' defense kept the scoring close in two of the night's three sets, the Cougars came out on top in every major statistical category. The most notable of which was their clean offensive play, committing only eight errors on 84 total attempts. With 39 kills under their belt, Colorado Christian walked away with a team hit percentage of .369.
In set one, the Eagles came away with 12 kills and only six errors. Outside hitters Amelia Berg, Amber Harvey, and Olivia Moten-Schell each contributed three kills of their own. Setter Audrey Bennett also earned a service ace, bringing her team-leading total to 24 on the season.
The Eagles' best performance of the night came in set two, where they came away with 13 kills and four errors out of 27 total attempts to give them a solid hit percentage of .333. The set featured numerous point streaks from both teams. Tied at 4-4, the Cougars went on a five-point steak to make the score 4-9. Immediately after, the Eagles went on a seven-point streak to make it 11-9. After trading blows, Colorado Christian went on another five-point streak to bring the score from 14-13 to 14-17. They would maintain the three-point lead over the Eagles for the rest of the set.
The Cougars' offense took full control of the match in set three, coming up with 11 kills and only one error out of 19 total attempts to give them a team hit percentage of .526. Three of the Cougars' points came from blocks by Kylar Raymond, Alli Douglass, Lilly Woods, and Izzy Jones and nine points were from attack errors committed by CSC. Though hitter Alli Keisel had two service aces at the end of the set, it wasn't enough to spark a comeback.
The Eagles will return Tuesday, October 19 to host #6 Colorado School of Mines (16-2, 9-1 RMAC). The match is set for 6 p.m.
