Eagles have one match in Denver this weekend

CHADRON, Neb. -- October 20, 2021 -- The Chadron State College volleyball team (4-14, 2-9 RMAC) will travel to face Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival Regis University (14-4, 9-1 RMAC).

The Rangers are currently on a 9-game winning streak against RMAC opponents this season, with their last loss coming from a mid-September clash against #7 Colorado School of Mines (17-2, 10-1 RMAC). Last weekend they swept New Mexico Highlands (7-13, 3-7 RMAC) and defeated Adams State (8-11, 4-6 RMAC) in a decisive 3-1 victory.

In the long history between Chadron State and Regis, the Eagles have only won six out of 49 matches against the Rangers. The last win came in a tightly contested match in 2007, where the two teams traded blows until the Eagles got the last laugh in a 15-10 set five win, giving CSC the 3-2 victory.

Regis' offense is led by setter Mara LeGrand and outside hitter Caitlyn Burroway. As the lone setter for the Rangers, LeGrand has produced 690 assists at a rate of 10.45 assists per set. Both those numbers rank second in the RMAC. She has also accounted for 223 digs on the season.

Burroway is the current team leader in total points (245.5), points per set (3.78), kills (217), and kills per set (3.34). Her point total ranks as the fifth best in the league.

Defensive leaders for Regis are middle hitter Nadine Burbrink and defensive specialist/libero Haley Kennedy. Burbrink is the leading blocker for the Rangers, producing 12 block solos and 56 block assists for a total of 68 blocks. At a rate of 1.10 blocks per set, she ranks among the best blockers in the league.

Kennedy is the current dig leader with 259 on the season. She also has 29 service aces at a rate of 0.47 service aces per set, both of which rank third in the RMAC.

The Regis Rangers are coached by Joel List, who is in his fifth season as head coach. He is assisted by Ashley Petak and Paul Martin.
