Eagles fall to Hardrockers 72-45

CHADRON, Neb. – Feb. 20 – The Chadron State women's basketball team moved to 0-11 on the season after falling to South Dakota Mines at the Chicoine Center 72-45 on Saturday night. The Eagles have two opportunities left in the season to come out with a win.
 
It was a difficult night for the Eagles when it came to turnovers. They had 21 turnovers on the night and surrendered a total of 21 points off turnovers.
 
The Hardrockers found themselves with the largest lead of the game late in the fourth quarter, leading 70-41.
 
The Eagles had 36 points from on the court while 14 points came from the bench.
 
Offensively, Ashayla Powers lead her team with 15 points, trailed closely behind by Brittni McCully with 10 on the night. Both women also had the most minutes on the court among their teammates at 30 and 31 minutes, respectively.
 
Taryn Foxen made a comeback from a non-basketball injury and played 12 minutes, recording a 50.0 field goal percentage.
 
Twenty-three of the Eagles' 37 rebounds were defensive and Jori Peters three of her team's five steals. Tatum Peterson had two blocks, an offensive and a defensive rebound, and an assistant. Olivia Waufle led the game with 9 total rebounds.
 
South Dakota Mines' Michaela Shaklee scored 19 points against the Eagles while Madelyn Heiser was close behind with 18. Heiser also shot 75% on field goals, going 6-8.
 
The Eagles played their last home game of the season on Saturday night, but will see action next at MSU-Denver on Friday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m.
