Eagles in Colorado this weekend

CHADRON Neb. -- September 27, 2021 -- The Chadron State College volleyball team will be traveling to Colorado this weekend to take on Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rivals Fort Lewis (1-7, 1-3 RMAC) and Western Colorado (7-5, 2-2 RMAC). 

The Fort Lewis Skyhawks are coming off a 1-3 loss to Western Colorado and a 0-3 loss to Regis (8-4, 3-1 RMAC) on the road last weekend. In both matches, they had a hit percentage of less than .1 and a total error count of 55 between the two matches.  

The Skyhawks' leading scorer is outside hitter Alexis Hobie. With 78 points so far in the season, she leads the team in kills (70) and total attempts (231).  

Assisting Hobie are setters Payton Harmann and Natalia Lambos. Harmann's 93 assists and Lambos' 79 assists combine to cover 172 of Fort Lewis' 275 total assists on the season.  

Another leader for Fort Lewis is outside hitter Madi Nash. In the RMAC, she has the eighth-best average number of service aces per set (.41) and tenth best average number of points per set (3.35). 

Fort Lewis is defensively led by defensive specialist/libero Kamryn Lopez. She is responsible for 104 digs at a rate of 3.59 digs per set. She has only six reception errors out of 173 total attempts, giving her a reception percentage of .965.  

The lead blocker is 5'11" middle hitter Avynn La Rose, who has team highs of two block solos, 12 block assists, and 14 net blocks.  

The Skyhawks are coached by second-year head coach Giedre Tarnauskaite and first year assistant coach Robin Dalton. 

The Western Colorado Mountaineers are coming off a 3-1 victory over Fort Lewis and a 0-3 loss to Regis last week. They played efficiently at home against Fort Lewis, producing 50 total kills and a hit percentage of .207. At Regis, they were unable to handle the Rangers' dominant attack. 

The Mountaineers' offensive attack is led by setter Alex Galicia, outside hitter Jordan Todd and outside hitter Jaeda Davis-Golliher 

Galicia has accounted for 343 of Western Colorado's 517 total assists through the season. This places her in the top ten among all RMAC setters.  

Todd is the team's leader in points (129), kills (115), and total attempts (421).  

Davis-Golliher is the Mountaineers' leader in hit percentage. She has 67 kills, only eight errors, and 132 total attempts giving her a percentage of .447, which is second-best in the league. 

Defensive leaders for Western Colorado are defensive specialist/libero Elizabeth Rupprecht and middle hitter Kat Finnerty. 

Rupprecht is the team's dig leader, producing 209 at a rate of 4.54 digs per set, which sits among the highest in the RMAC. 

Finnerty has produced 12 block solos and 34 block assists for a team high 46 blocks. At a rate of one block per set, she ranks among the best blockers in the league. 

Western Colorado is coached by fourth-year head coach Jessica Fey. She is joined by second-year assistant coach Danny Mirda.
