CHADRON, Neb. -- November 15, 2022 -- Lots of basketball will be played in the Chicoine Center during the next six days. Both Chadron State teams will play two non-conference contests, three of them against long-time Nebraska rivals.
The CSC women will be on the court the first two games, hosting Wayne State on Wednesday (Nov. 16) and Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday. Both will tip off at 5:30.
The Eagles' men will tangle with the Sioux Falls Cougars at 2 p.m. Saturday and meet the Kearney Lopers at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22.
Both CSC teams are still searching for their first victories after opening their schedules last weekend against teams from Texas.
In the season openers last Friday night, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women sank a dozen three-pointers during an 80-63 win in Chadron and the Texas A&M International men edged the Eagles 71-66 in Laredo.
The next night, the International women prevailed 73-46 in the Chicoine Center, while the CSC men hit a three-pointer late in the game to tie the score at 69-69, but the Javelinas won 82-76 in overtime on their home court.
The Wayne State women will come to Chadron with a 1-0 record after defeating the Newman University Jets 99-90 in their opener last weekend. The Kearney Lady Lopers have won three of their first four games.
The Sioux Falls men split their first two games last weekend, edging Southern Nazarene 75-72 and losing to Pittsburg State 82-74. Both of the men's teams from Bemidji State and Minnesota-Duluth edged the Kearney Lopers by six points during a classic in Minnesota in those season-openers.
